DESCRIPTION: Please join us for a 6-week series of trauma-informed yoga with one of our Practice Coalition instructors. We’ll explore breathing practices and gentle movement based in yoga asana. These exercises and practices are meant to help relieve the effects of trauma, stress, and anxiety and to help you feel good, relaxed, and more empowered. This practice is potentially for those who move through your circles, however these classes are meant just for you and your well-being. Classes will take place virtually on Zoom. Participants are welcome to turn their video off if that makes them more comfortable. No experience necessary. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Participants will need some space, a yoga mat, maybe a chair, blanket, pillows, yoga blocks or books. BIO: Jocelyn Casey-Whiteman is an educator and poet living in New York City. In her yoga classes, she integrates a love of fluid movement with a mindful, creative, and introspective practice that creates space for students to learn, explore, and transform. She’s earned advanced yoga certification with Kofi Busia and an MFA in Poetry Writing at Columbia University. Her chapbook Lure was published by the Poetry Society of America, and her poetry appears in journals such as Boston Review, Poetry Ireland, and West Branch. She has served as a mentor for Girls Write Now and teaches writing and yoga in New York.
